Try setting the ICONX environment variable to the pathname (including
filename) of your iconx binary.
This is a correct (and easy) way to run iconx from any location you want
to install it. Another alternative is to run the patchstr program to change
the icont binary to know where iconx is installed; this is described in the
Icon Project Document on UNIX installations.
The binaries in the FTP area are old and were done hastily. I'll work on
putting up some new Linux binaries built with a newer Linux distribution,
and I'll add instructions about the ICONX environment variable in a READ.ME
or status file. If someone has some binaries they'd like to contribute for
this purpose, you might drop me an e-mail and save me some time.
